The implementation and construction of this commenced project will further expand the deep processing industrial chain of "metallurgy - metallurgical profiles - metallurgical products" in the Division and City. It is continuously developing towards downstream areas such as magnesium alloy profiles, and striving to build an integrated comprehensive industrial chain of the circular economy industry of magnesium-based new materials. It is of great significance for the local Division and City to optimize and strengthen the leading new metallurgical industry, build a hundred-billion-level industrial cluster, and promote the construction of a new metallurgical demonstration base of the Corps.
The site of the commencement ceremony of the integrated project of the circular economy industry of magnesium-based new materials
The integrated project of the circular economy industry of magnesium-based new materials of Xinjiang Ban Chao Group Co., Ltd. - the construction project with an annual output of 20,000 tons of metallic magnesium and 30,000 tons of magnesium alloys has a total investment of 278 million yuan. Newly built raw material preparation workshops are equipped with preparation production lines, rotary kiln production lines, metallic magnesium reduction furnace workshops, refining workshops, raw material warehouses, tailings warehouses and supporting equipment, environmental protection projects such as tail gas desulfurization, denitrification and dust removal, and public auxiliary projects, etc. It is expected that the construction of the main structure will be completed by June 30th, and the conditions for trial production will be met before the end of the year. It will be fully completed in 2026. After being put into production, it can achieve an annual output value of over 360 million yuan and drive the employment of more than 200 people.
Project Introduction
In the Xinxing Economic and Technological Development Zone of Xinxing City, the 13th Division of the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps, a transformation of the magnesium-based new materials industry is quietly taking place. The integrated project of the circular economy industry of magnesium-based new materials of Xinjiang Ban Chao Magnesium Industry Co., Ltd. - the construction project with an annual output of 20,000 tons of metallic magnesium and 30,000 tons of magnesium alloys, with its grand scale and innovative concept, has become the focus within the industry.
Grand Scale, Demonstrating Strength
This project plans to invest 278 million yuan. It was started in July 2024. The scheme design was completed before February 2025, and the groundbreaking ceremony was held in March 2025. The construction content includes: raw material preparation workshops, reduction workshops, equipped with 4 vertical retort reduction furnaces for metallic magnesium with an annual output of 5,000 tons each and their supporting auxiliary projects, magnesium alloy refining workshops, product warehouses, reduction slag warehouses, flue gas comprehensive treatment buildings, etc. After completion, the enterprise will form an additional production capacity of 20,000 tons of metallic magnesium and 30,000 tons of magnesium alloys per year, fully meeting the market demand and demonstrating strong strength.
Leading Technology, Energy Conservation and Carbon Emission Reduction
The project adopts a new type of regenerative vertical retort reduction furnace. This domestically leading equipment can reduce the energy consumption of the reduction section by 30% and the energy consumption in the entire metallic magnesium smelting process by 22%, contributing to the realization of the national goals of "carbon peak and carbon neutrality", promoting the supply-side reform of the nonferrous metals industry, and setting a model for industrial upgrading.
Industrial Circulation, Coordinated Development
As a sub-project of the construction project of the magnesium-based new materials industrial park of Xinjiang Ban Chao Magnesium Industry Co., Ltd., this project is deeply integrated into the circular economy industrial chain of the park. Relying on the resources such as coke oven gas and ferrosilicon of surrounding enterprises, it realizes the efficient utilization of energy and raw materials. At the same time, by reasonably transporting by-products such as coal tar to other projects, it forms a closed-loop cycle, promotes regional industrial upgrading, and helps the local economy take off.
In Line with Policies, Broad Prospects
As a green engineering material in the 21st century, magnesium alloys have broad application prospects in fields such as aviation, aerospace, and transportation. This project is in line with national development policies and industry access conditions. With the support of a series of national industrial policies, it is bound to shine in the future and lead the magnesium-based new materials industry to new heights.
